Hundreds of years ago, Renaissance-era scientists identified the slide as one of six fundamental “simple machines.” Slides are simple indeed; they directly embody the abstract notions of ascent and descent. Yet, the absolute simplicity of slides does not diminish their ability to generate thrills and pleasure. This playful marching band show (which involves musical portrayals of slides such as glissandos and chromatic scales) is an energetic tribute to those beloved playground amusements.
