Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” Marty McCartt seems to have harnessed a literal interpretation of this quote in his wildly futuristic marching band show! He takes both performers and audience members into the mysterious world of dreams and infuses it with a modern edge, resulting in a dramatic hybrid of imagination and computerization. The pieces “V2 Schneider” and “Sons of the Silent Age” by Phillip Glass (symphonic reworkings of tracks on David Bowie’s Heroes album), along with original music by McCartt, flow together perfectly into an intense, yet playful, surreal experience.
