What is beauty? Is it the exterior appearance of a person, the way they carry themselves, or the garments they wear? Or could it be what’s inside: the heart, soul, and mind? Beautiful People, a marching band show arranged by Lewis Norfleet, plays society’s infatuation with physical beauty against the desire to look deep into a person’s character. This electric, abstract and passionate show features Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful,” Marilyn Manson’s “The Beautiful People,” Pat Metheny’s “Third Wind,” and the elegant second movement of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7.
